ARTIST STATEMENT ON THE WORK:
These are my homage to the old communal fishing and surf shacks that used to dot the West Australian coastline. It’s my vision of Australia before the coastline was overrun with beige McMansions. They’re usually pieced together with salvaged materials and in various states of shambolic disrepair.
The Alvey fishing rod and reel is an iconic Australian brand that’s been around since the 1920s and has recently been under threat of closure.
Swan brewery originated in Western Australia in the 1850s but is now owned by a foreign company.”
